Welcome to the Wellington Playcentre Association

Playcentre is about fun, quality early childhood education, and learning alongside our children. We believe that parents / whanau are the first and best educators of their children!

The 20 Playcentres in the Wellington region are run as co-operatives by local parents / whanau, making for a very supportive community.

With mixed age play sessions (birth – school age), learning through child-initiated play and free adult education programmes there are benefits for both children and adults alike.

Our centres are licensed, follow Te Whariki (the Ministry of Education Early Childhood Curriculum) and we actively embrace our New Zealand heritage.

We invite you to come and enjoy three free visits at your your local centre or chat to us at one of our upcoming public events.

Miramar Playcentre is the only Playcentre on Te Motu Kairangi, and is a very special centre.  We will celebrate our 30th anniversary in 2014 and throughout that time we have been providing quality early childhood education.  We pride ourselves on our child-led philosophy, our mixed age learning environment, and the opportunities we provide our member’s whanāu.

As a parent co-operative we are passionately engaged in providing quality early childhood education and a unique learning experience. Our community is diverse and draws families from Seatoun to Lyall Bay.

We offer three visits before you enroll so that you can experience Miramar Playcentre before deciding to join, so come and visit us - we would love to meet you and show you the Miramar Playcentre way.
