Karori Playcentre is a community of families growing together through the early childhood education of their children.
Parents/caregivers attend one or more sessions a week with their birth to school age children. Children over two-and-a-half can do some drop off sessions.
We operate as a parent co-operative and are focussed on developing:
- strong reciprocal relationships within and beyond Playcentre, adult:adult, adult:child and child:child
- curious and confident children ready for the next stage of their learning journey
- confident parents with new skills and experience.
We are a licensed early childhood education provider for children aged 0-6 years and follow Te Whariki (the early childhood curriculum). We have a minimum adult to child ratio of 1:5 and it is usually much higher than this.
For our older children we offer the opportunity to be involved in an outdoor-based session that spends most weeks out exploring the natural environment at local parks, reserves and beaches. Confidence, curiosity, cooperation and friendships blossom on this session.
